About the BarOn EQ-i.

Full Spectrum Coaching is now certified to offer the BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory ( EQ-i®). The EQ-i offers an opportunity for individuals and groups to assess their emotional intelligence, and measures:

  • Intrapersonal skills: Emotional self-awareness, self-regard, independence, assertiveness, and self-actualization
  • Interpersonal skills: Empathy, social responsibility, and interpersonal relationship
  • Adaptability: Reality testing, flexibility, and problem solving
  • Stress management: Stress tolerance and impulse control
  • General mood: Happiness and optimism

Taking the EQ-i is a two step process. First, the respondent completes an online survey, typically 133 items. This takes, on average, about 20 minutes. The respondent then participates in a one hour debriefing session, in which a certified practitioner reviews and interprets the results. The debriefing process is the richest source of insights from the assessment, and is a required part of the process. According to our clients:

The BarOn EQ-i assessment provided valuable insight regarding how I lead in the workplace. The analysis and recommendations provided by Liz Reyer are an integral part of the assessment. Liz identified my strengths as well as my weaker attributes. We strategized together to develop a unique action plan so that I can grow and reach my goals. Overall, the differentiating factor between EQ-i and other assessment tools is Liz's personal one-on-one debriefing, and strategy formulation and continuing coaching services to keep me focused and motivated.
    -- JH, Finance Manager

Completing the BarOn EQ-i assessment and debriefing with Liz Reyer was like doing a mid-journey trip check with an experienced travel guide. Liz offered thoughtful insights and asked challenging yet sensitive questions as we explored the ways the various scales and sub-scales interrelated to form the composite picture. I was able to note those areas where I'd made progress towards my personal goals while also identifying the challenges and opportunities that exist for continued growth in the future. Altogether it was a practical, useful, and satisfying experience.

Why does it matter? Emotional intelligence has been shown to be strongly related to performance, surpassing IQ as a predictor of success across industries and professions. Understanding your current level of emotional intelligence opens the door to focused and intentional growth.
